STOCK ENGINES

Stock engine rebuilt at Active Engines

Active Engines is a major engine builder, working on virtually every make and model of any personal or industrial-use engine produced today. Gas or diesel, domestic or import, Active Engines can rebuild it.

Active backs up its work with one of the best warrantees in Canada, ensuring you will get lots of use and reliability out of the rebuilt engine.

And, because Active is a custom engine rebuilder, you gain the extra benefit of strict quality controls required for high performance work. You get blueprint-quality work, at a stock engine price.

Engine Rebuilding Process

A stock engine rebuild includes the following:

Engine block Degreasing, Magnafluxing, aligning, boring and honing.
Cylinder heads Degreasing, Magnafluxing, fitted with new valve guides, valve seats are refaced, deck surface is machined flat, spring pressures are set to manufacturer specifications
Connecting rods Rods are degreased, big end housing is resized, pin bushings are replaced.
Crankshaft The crankshaft is degreased, checked for size and straightness, and if necessary, ground to the next undersize
Assembly The engine is then meticulously assembled, double checking all the running clearances.
Parts The following parts are replaced on every rebuild: pistons, rings, cam, rod, main bearings, all timing components, oil pump, camshaft, lifters, gaskets, seals, valves, pushrods. Rocker arms are inspected and replaced if necessary.

When to rebuild an engine

If you choose to rebuild an engine, in effect you are making a commitment to continue driving the vehicle for some time. Consequently, you should consider the following:

  1. Is the body of the vehicle in good condition?
  2. Is the vehicle in otherwise good mechanical condition?
  3. Do you still enjoy driving the car?

Benefits of engine rebuilding

  • The cost of a stock engine rebuild varies by individual project. However, as an example consider that a new car could cost $20,000, whereas a rebuilt engine could range from $4,000 - $5,000. The cost savings of rebuilding engines can be substantial.
  • Rebuilt engines typically provide improved gas mileage and fewer emissions.
  • For the environmentally-conscious, rebuilding engines avoids the production of raw materials required to build new engines.
